My variety of work
turning hardwood hairpins has grown a branch (forgive the pun) focused on decorative, yet functional, shawl pins.
They perform like a straight pin would,
only they're curvy, and each one has its own unique shape! These
ornamental catches are compact — only about 4" long — but quite
functional.
I turn them from a dyed, laminated birch,
so you can be confident of a super smooth, solid pin to hold your hand
woven shawl together.

For me,
the greatest joy of woodturning happens when the shape emerges from a block of wood,
as if by its own design, capturing the moment
when art meets craft. |
